The style of this picture is close to turn-of-the century Secessionism and Symbolism. The symbolic mood of the evening, when nature quietens down and subsides after sunset, the meandering lines of the river flowing towards the background of the picture and enlivening it, and the rhythmic silhouette of the city represent the contrast between the dynamic life of nature and static architecture created by man.
