Skapo Street, where it is joined to Pilies Street by a massive medieval arch, enchanted Józef Pieniążek (1888–1953), a painter and graphic artist from Lviv. His engraving of Skapo Street in Vilnius is distinguished by its gentle cross-hatching, its subtle gradations of tones, and the romantic atmosphere of the Old Town.
