The artist had a house in Palanga where he liked to spend his summers. He liked to watch the sea and sunsets, and to paint. In his works he immortalised the miraculous views of the seaside in which the sky played its crucial role: the curious clouds, their movement and lighting, the shallowness of sand and the cold freshness of water. The picture is painted with light strokes and local colours. It has a clear layout of the expanse receding into the depth.
