The artistic endeavours and thematic interests of young graphic artists are further illustrated by the contents of the almanac Žingsnis (The Step), published by students at the Kaunas School of Art in 1934 in a limited print-run of just 100 copies. Chosen by the leftist student group Trys tulpės (Three Tulips), the collection featured reproductions of 21 works, including graphics, paintings, frescoes and sculpture. These works not only depicted scenes from everyday life in the Lithuanian countryside, but also portrayed themes relating to the country’s development, including factory workers, ditch diggers and construction workers.
