Paulius Augius-Augustinavičius (1909–1960), a graphic artist from Žemaitija, refined his linocut skills during his time in Paris. On returning from his studies, he used his expertise to portray the romanticised essence of rural life in Lithuania, depicting an almost fairy-tale-like image of his homeland through expressive freehand line drawing. This nostalgic perspective on a village in Žemaitija is captured beautifully in his linocut Heading Home, made in 1939.
