Series Vilnius, 19781993.

The series of etchings called Vilnius is distinguished by its method of execution, for Repšys does not work in the usual way. He does not make his etchings in the studio based on sketches he has made previously, but walks around the Old Town, and draws the subjects on the spot on small copper plates. He completes the drawing after several sessions, which usually lasts a few days, and has it etched later with acid and then printed. His drawings are meticulous, but the irregular vibrating lines intertwine, swarm and bristle, they grow thicker and thinner, thus creating a lively texture on the surface of the paper.
