Almond tree in blossom

In his compositions, the painter often included the motif of a blossoming almond tree (e.g., in this collection – the picture Capri in spring). The tender pink colours of that plant make a harmonious unit with the blueness of the sky, water and depth, which reminds us of the favourite colours of H. Matisse.
