A warm evening

Vygantas Paukštė was born in Vilnius on 13 May 1957. He studied painting at the State Art Institute of Lithuania between 1976 and 1982. His work has been shown in exhibitions since 1985. In 1988, he became a member of Group 24. He now works at the Vilnius Justinas Vienožinskis School of Art. He has held more than 13 solo art exhibitions in Lithuania, and five abroad (Holland, Germany, Poland). He has participated in group exhibitions in Lithuania (mostly of Group 24), Azerbaijan, Denmark, the USA, Great Britain, Georgia, Latvia, Poland, Luxembourg, Norway, Holland, France, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Germany (mostly in exhibitions of work by painters from the Baltic States).
Paukštė was awarded a diploma by the Jaunystė-88 (Youth-88) Young Painters of the Baltic States Fine Arts Exhibition, and he is a holder of the Gold Badge of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association (2009). His works are held in the collections of the Lithuanian Art Museum, the M.K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum, in museums and art galleries in Amsterdam, The Hague, the Zimmerli Art Museum in the USA, and in private collections in Lithuania and abroad.
