In this album we endeavoured to present works of art in various techniques (painting, etching, sculpture and assemblage) which represent the artist’s perception of woman, a frequent subject for inspiration and art. Several different approaches towards the image of woman are exemplified by the eight thematic sections of the book: ‘A Portrait as a Memento’, ‘An Embodied Vision’, ‘The Charms of Childhood’, ‘Motherhood’, ‘Women at Work’, ‘An Object of Desire’, ‘As Seen by Ethnographers’ and ‘The Life Drawing Model’.
Some of the works presented in the album were displayed in an exhibition in the National Art Gallery in the autumn of 2012 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of LAWIN.
