Łucja Bałzukiewiczówna (1887–1976) was a painter from Vilnius. She was born in an artists’ family: her father was a self-educated carver and her brothers Joseph and Boleslaw were artists. L. Bałzukiewiczówna learned the foundations of art at the Vilnius School of Drawing and later studied at O. Boznańska’s private school of art in Paris. L. Bałzukiewiczówna painted genre scenes, landscapes (mostly architectural monuments of Vilnius and other cities), portraits, and religious pictures for churches. Ł. Bałzukiewiczównapainted the The Bernardine Monastery and the Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross in Grodno from the south-eastern side, and rendered in detail the environment and architecture of the complex of buildings. The buildings, built between 1602 and 1618 and later several times restored, are of the Vilnius baroque style, while the interior of the church is considered a real masterpiece of that style.
