While painting this picture, Savickas attempted to highlight the colour spectrum. He created a contrasting image by using intense green and blue. He chose a fragmented composition, joined the mountain tops into a single row, and boldly and colourfully showed the subject sunken in shadow (only the mountain tops are lit up).
