The Dutch cartographer and cosmographer Andreas Cellarius (ca 1596–1665) left one of the best descriptions of 17th-century Poland and Lithuania, ‘The Latest Description of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and All the Lands Under Polish Law’. This work includes a map of the grand duchy and plans of 20 cities, including Vilnius. The Ellex Valiunas collection has both editions of Cellarius’ book, in Latin (1659) and Flemish (1660).
