A. Vesčiūnas matured as an artist abroad, in Stuttgart and New York. The pictures in this collection represent his Impressionist work. They were painted impulsively, as if in a single sitting, in small sensitive brushstrokes. The colourful works also have Expressionist features. They emanate the spirit of the 20th century a hundred years after the emergence of Impressionism. Vesčiūnas’ pictures were popular in the 1950s in Germany and the USA.
