The facial features of the girl portrayed suggest that she is probably Jūratė Laura, the daughter of Petras and Vassia Kiaulėnas, affectionately nicknamed Bubukas in her childhood. The painting highlights delicately the individuality of the child and her inner world, while simultaneously conveying her father’s tenderness and love. Observing the girl absorbed in prayer, the viewer is filled with admiration for a childhood marked by purity and idealism.
