During the years immediately following the war, artists were not yet influenced by government policy, and therefore this picture perpetuates the artistic values of the 1930s: the artist’s individuality, a form of visual expression characteristic of Cézanne, and subtle green colouring. The painting was executed in soft shapes, with the harmoniously arranged silhouettes of trees, and is very expressive. The rhythm of the arrangement of contrasting decorative patches produces the impression of a powerful sound.
