"Atlas ou Recueil..." title-page engraving

Author: Nicholas de Fer (1646–1720)

Nicholas de Fer (1646–1720) was a cartographer, engraver, publisher, and an official geographer to the French Dauphin (1691), to the Spanish King (1702), and to the French King. Produced three major atlases containing mostly maps of Europe, and particularly France. His several hundred maps, while extraordinarily beautiful, were not distinguished for their accuracy.
