Eugenijus Kulvietis was a painter and teacher. He was born in 1883 on the Alančiai estate, Panevėžys district. After finishing Gymnasium in Riga he studied in St. Petersburg: he attended the School of the Association for the Promotion of Art, the St. Petersburg Academy of Art and still-life classes. He participated in the Russian-Japanese War and in the First World War. In 1910–1914 he lived in Chicago, worked as a photographer and organised exhibitions of paintings. In 1918 he returned to Lithuania and from 1922 taught drawing at a Gymnasium in Ukmergė. In 1944 he emigrated from Lithuania and lived in Columbia. He died in 1959 in Madeleine.
